What we don’t do
Most of what goes wrong for contractors starts with somebody agreeing to do a job they were not the right person for. So here is ours, in writing, before you spend ninety-five pounds finding out.
No Self Assessment, no company return, no VAT, no confirmation statement. We are not registered as anyone’s tax agent and we do not want your Government Gateway login.
Who instead: any decent accountant. If you have not got one, an evening here will at least tell you what to ask them.
No calls on your behalf, no letters signed by us, no attending a compliance visit. If an enquiry has already landed, you want a specialist who does that work daily.
Who instead: a firm with an investigations department, or a tax barrister if the amount justifies it.
We take no commission from any umbrella, agency or scheme provider, which is why we can tell you plainly when an inside contract through an umbrella is simply the better deal.
If a structure only works because HMRC has not noticed it yet, it is not planning. We will not explain it, recommend it, or tell you where to read about it.
This one is not negotiable and we would rather lose the booking.
The phone is for arranging a time and saying whether we are the right people. Anything that matters gets said with the document in front of us, because half the answer is always in the wording.
They do not work for this. Reading a contract together means both of you pointing at the same paragraph.
An hour, a table, your contract, and someone who will tell you what it says. That is the whole offer, and for a lot of people it is the piece nobody else was willing to sell separately.
